Proverbs 4:5 says: Get Wisdom! Get Understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of My mouth. Proverb 4:7 says: Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding!
In all the hustle and bustle of sales advertising regarding Christmas, we can easily get caught up in jargon. However, it is Jesus’ birthday. I asked Him this morning what He wanted. I heard the scripture John 10:10, Jesus speaking to the crowds, the thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly .
I believe that the Lord would rather we give Him to all this Christmas! It does not rack up our credit cards and we do not have to wait in the long lines. However, it does take courage to speak so simply the message of complete Hope that lasts past Christmas day… His Gift of Himself lasts forever.
In our materialistic age, Jesus Christ is STILL the best Gift. I pray that this season instead of giving gifts that perish we can share the Greatest Gift ever! JESUS CHRIST! He never breaks down or leaves. He is here 24-7 still saying- Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28).
I think the man that Peter and John healed in Acts chapter 3 was quite glad that they had no silver or gold. Acts 3:6, Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” They reached for the guy and he leaped up and walked! His life was changed from that day on being touched by Jesus Christ. Gold and silver could not change or help him past when the money for food ran out. He would have to return to begging again. This man’s life is changed forever. God will honor the name of His Beloved Son, when we pray in faith for others.
Let us who know the Lord, remember to give the best Gift ever. Saying Happy Birthday! Here is my gift to You, Lord, another that chooses to believes in You, the Son of God! Emmanuel!
Pray that we may see His opportunities before us and have boldness and courage to give Jesus Christ in what may be a hostile environment.
Happy getting for Him this Christmas Season!
